RS Trade fire columns: materials and features in detail
The 120 cm tall fire columns feature a frame made of aluminum as well as components made of stainless steel. Weighing about 7 kg, they can be flexibly placed on the patio or in the garden. Selected versions feature hand-woven, 1.2 mm thick poly rattan. This combines a decorative wicker look with a modern design for different outdoor areas.
The burner area is surrounded by a glass top made of four panes. This shields the flame from the sides while still allowing an unobstructed view of the flame display. The fuel tank is made of stainless steel and is integrated into the frame.
Also included is a bag that can be filled with up to 3.5 kg of stones or sand. This filling serves as additional weight for the fire column. Stones or sand are not included. Always choose a suitable, level and stable surface for placement.
For storage during longer periods of non-use, we recommend a dry, protected location. A matching black protective cover made of polyester and polyacrylic is available separately in our online shop. It helps protect the fire column from dust, pollen, bird droppings and other dirt when not in use.

Frequently Asked Questions about RS Trade Bio-Ethanol Fire Columns
How does a bio-ethanol fire column work?
How does a bio-ethanol fire column work?
Bio-ethanol fire columns work with an open burner system. The liquid fuel is poured into the designated stainless steel fuel tank and then ignited according to the operating instructions. This creates a decorative flame display without using wood or charcoal. For safe operation, the prescribed clearances, a suitable placement location, and the instructions for ventilation and refilling fuel must always be observed.
How long does a fire column burn on one fill?
How long does a fire column burn on one fill?
The burn time depends on the tank volume and the set flame height. On our models, the capacity is 2 liters, allowing a burn time of up to 7 hours. With a reduced flame height, the burn time may vary accordingly. Always follow the instructions in the operating manual for operation, extinguishing and refilling. Bio-ethanol must never be refilled while the fire column is burning or still hot.
Is it allowed to use a fire column indoors?
Is it allowed to use a fire column indoors?
Yes, the fire column can also be used in suitable indoor spaces with adequate ventilation. Place the fire column on a level, stable surface and keep sufficient distance from flammable materials such as curtains, furniture or plants. Ensure adequate fresh air supply during operation and avoid drafts directly at the flame. Never leave the fire column unattended while in operation. Bio-ethanol may only be refilled once the fire column has fully gone out and cooled down.
How do bio-ethanol fire columns differ from fire baskets or gas fireplaces?
How do bio-ethanol fire columns differ from fire baskets or gas fireplaces?
Bio-ethanol fire columns need neither a gas connection nor a pressure vessel and run on liquid bio-ethanol. On our models, the flame is shielded from the sides by a glass top. In addition, the fire columns have feet, a weighable bag for extra stability, and an extinguishing hook for controlled smothering of the flame. As with any open fire, careful use is important: the fire column must be placed on a suitable, stable surface and must not be left unattended during operation. Bio-ethanol may only be refilled once the fire pit has fully gone out and cooled down.
Is assembly of the column necessary?

No, the fire columns are delivered fully assembled. Before first use, only the designated steps for placement and filling need to be carried out. You can find the relevant instructions in the enclosed manual.
How do I care for fire columns?
How do I care for fire columns?
Usually a soft, damp cloth is enough for cleaning. Fingerprints, dust and water spots can generally be removed well with it. Do not use abrasive sponges or aggressive cleaning agents, to protect the surfaces. For the aluminum housing, you can use a mild cleaner and a soft brush if needed. The poly rattan surfaces are UV- and weather-resistant. During longer periods of non-use, continuous rain or the winter months, we recommend covering the fire column or storing it dry and protected.
Do I need to clean the burner chamber?
Do I need to clean the burner chamber?
Regular intensive cleaning of the burner chamber is generally not necessary. Let the fire column cool completely before each cleaning and before refilling. If needed, remove dust, dirt or fuel residue, and only refill the fuel tank once it has fully cooled down.
What is bio-ethanol made of?
