A parasol is only as good as its base. Anyone who has watched a large cantilever parasol sway in a gust of wind knows how important the right stand is. With RS Trade's parasol accessories, you can give your parasol a secure fit and a stable footing.
Universal Parasol Base, Wheeled, for Cantilever, Center-Pole & Market Parasols
Ground Socket for Concrete Embedding for Parasols
Which parasol base fits your parasol?
The right base depends on the type of parasol, the ground it will stand on, and how flexibly you want to be able to move it later.
- Center-pole and market parasols need a matching stand that holds the pole and provides a stable footing, either through sufficient weight or a fixed anchor.
- Cantilever parasols need appropriately sized weighting or a fixed ground anchor because of their offset pole and arm.
- Rotary clothes lines can, depending on the model, be mounted using a ground sleeve set in concrete.
When choosing between a mobile stand on wheels and a ground sleeve set in concrete, it mainly comes down to intended use. If you want to move the parasol around flexibly or put it away when not in use, a mobile stand on wheels is the better fit. If the parasol will stay in one fixed spot, a ground sleeve set in concrete is a practical alternative.
Parasol stand with wheels: flexible thanks to the adapter system
RS Trade's parasol stand with wheels is a cross-shaped frame stand made of grey powder-coated steel. At its center, a receiving tube holds the parasol pole. Thanks to the included adapter system, the stand fits many common parasol poles. It ships disassembled in a package measuring 113.5 × 24.5 × 14.5 cm and weighs 19.7 kg including packaging.
Three features stand out:
- The included adapter system is designed for several common parasol pole diameters.
- Four swivel casters with locking brakes make it easy to move the stand.
- A 5-hole adapter plate allows compatible stand bases to be mounted on the frame.
Adapter system for many common parasol poles
Parasol pole diameters vary by manufacturer and model. The included adapter system lets you adjust the central receiving tube to fit different pole sizes. Three inserts – 32 mm, 34 mm and 36 mm – are included and fit many common center-pole and market parasols. Before mounting, check your parasol pole's diameter against the compatibility of each adapter.
5-hole adapter plate for compatible stand bases
Alongside the tube holder, a 5-hole adapter plate is included. It attaches to the frame and allows the use of compatible parasol systems. If you already own a matching stand base with a 5-hole pattern, you can mount it on the frame depending on its design. Check the dimensions and hole pattern of your existing stand base beforehand.
Four swivel casters with locking brakes
The four casters swivel and each has its own locking brake. This means the parasol stand can be moved to a different spot when needed and then locked in place using the brakes. The rubber tread is suitable for various floor surfaces and can help protect delicate surfaces while moving the stand.
Material and construction
The square profiles are bolted together in a cross shape. The wide 106 × 106 cm base provides room for the intended weighting with standard slabs. The steel construction can bear up to 200 kg and stands 18 cm tall. For the intended weighting, four standard 50 × 50 cm slabs can be placed into the frame. The slabs are not included.
Ground sleeve for parasols: a fixed solution set in concrete
If a parasol will be used permanently in one fixed location, a ground sleeve set in concrete can be a practical solution. RS Trade's galvanized ground sleeve is set into the ground in concrete and allows a compatible parasol or rotary clothes line to be mounted securely. When installed flush, only the mounting plate area remains visible above ground.
Material and dimensions at a glance
- Material: galvanized metal
- Length: 40.5 cm
- Weight: 4.3 kg
- Mounting plate: 16 × 16 cm with M8 thread
Compatible parasols or rotary clothes lines can be attached via the mounting plate's M8 thread. The galvanizing helps protect the ground sleeve against corrosion. Before mounting, check that the thread, fitting and dimensions are compatible with your parasol or clothes line.
What is the ground sleeve suitable for?
Depending on the compatible fitting, the ground sleeve can be used for cantilever parasols, market parasols, classic parasols or rotary clothes lines. Especially for larger parasols, a fixed ground anchor offers a space-saving alternative to mobile stands with weight plates. A permanently mounted ground sleeve can also be a good fit for commercial settings, such as beer gardens or hotel patios.
Installation in six steps
With the right preparation, installation can be done yourself. Be sure to also take local conditions into account, along with the instructions for the concrete used and the mounting process.
- First, dig a sufficiently sized foundation hole. As a guide, a size of around 40 × 40 × 40 cm can work depending on the ground.
- Place the ground sleeve so the mounting plate is centered and sits as flush as possible with the finished surface.
- Fill the foundation with suitable concrete, taking care that no concrete gets into the threaded holes.
- Level the sleeve horizontally using a spirit level.
- Let the concrete cure fully according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Once fully cured, the compatible parasol or rotary clothes line can be mounted.
Care and storage of parasol accessories
The parasol stand is designed for outdoor use. Clean the frame as needed with a damp cloth and a mild cleaning agent. Also check the casters occasionally and remove any small stones or debris that could affect how they roll.
If not in use for an extended period, it's best to store the mobile parasol stand somewhere dry and protected. This helps protect the moving parts and casters in particular from unnecessary moisture and dirt.
The ground sleeve set in concrete can stay in the ground. If the parasol won't be used for a longer period, it can be removed and the open threaded hole closed with the included screw or a suitable protective cap. This helps protect the thread from dirt and moisture and keeps it ready for next use.
